Re: [Evolution] Some trouble with IMAP

Upgrade to 1.0.8 first, and see if the problem persists.

If so, run this in a separate terminal:
CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG=1 evolution-mail

wait a while (for it to start up and register itself), then run
evolution as normal. you should get a log of activity in that terminal.

Hi everyone,

I'm using evoution 1.0.5 and I have some troubles with the IMAP support.
When I ask evolution to open my imap account ("Send / Receive" button),
a progress window appears, showing 2 progress bars, the imap connection
hangs for unknow reasons. If I do nothing, the connection windows stays
there undefinitly.

netstat gives me the following info:

---
$ netstat --tcp -p
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
PID/Program name

tcp 38 0 tsfft.laas.fr:33100 gailuron.laas.fr:imap2 CLOSE_WAIT
4528/evolution-mail

tcp 0 0 tsfft.laas.fr:33101 gailuron.laas.fr:imap2 ESTABLISHED
4528/evolution-mail

tcp 0 0 tsfft.laas.fr:32768 gailuron.la:netbios-ssn ESTABLISHED -
---

So it seems my imap server closed the connection evolution tried to
establish, whereas evolution still waits for something.

If I click the cancel button, the connection window stays visible. I
must click on the windows manager kill button to get it killed. When I
exit evolution, I get a windows saying "Evolution exiting" or something
similar, and on the console, messages of the kind:

--
Waiting for component to die --
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Mail_ShellComponent (34)
Waiting for component to die --
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Mail_ShellComponent (35)
Waiting for component to die --
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Mail_ShellComponent (36)
Waiting for component to die --
OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_Mail_ShellComponent (37)
--

The only way to stop it, is to force evolution to die with a "kill" command.

Did anyone experience similar problems ? Would somebody know how I could
get more insight in what's going wrong ? (The --debug option only gave
me the "Waiting for component to die" messages.)

Thanks in advance

Francois
