[Evolution] stop expanding threads with new mail / collapse all threads]

Can anyone help?  Sorry - I know I have already sent this but I can't locate anything in the manual at all about viewing threads in email folders.

The threading feature for folders is great - but is has an annoying habit of expanding all thread with new mail - how do I stop this?  Or collapse all threads (although I would prefer to not have them expand in the first place). 

Any ideas?
