We make no claims about the CVS mainline being usable right now.
I have seen this in the released versions as well. One of my accounts is
an IMAP account, and I suspect evolution-mail being the one that causes
the long delay.
Yes, the delay would be due to evolution-mail. It's probably just trying
to sync message flags and, if you have Empty Trash on Exit turned on,
expunging all of your folders.
It's also possible that you are experiencing a tcp timeout or
something...
