I believe Jeff was talking about next/last message, not next/last UNREAD
mesage.
By the way, you can change all those keyboard shortcuts to something
sensible, if you just hack the right .xml files.

FWIW, I've started using the [ and ] keys to read the next new
message, instead of clicking on the prev/next buttons. On some
international keyboards, you may not have those keys, but I've heard
that period and comma can also work.

No, there's some bug in GTK (IIRC) that prevents this from working
properly if the controls are added anywhere else, so they simply removed
them. Your message is the echo of a lengthy, raucous clamour about
this. It upset a lot of people.
Check the list archives if you care to know the "official" position
about it. All we can hope is that they'll make it a priority some day.

With Evolution 1.2.0, whenever I'm displaying a message, the previous
and next buttons do not appear.
They appear in the default mail window (that which displays the To,
From, Date, etc), but not when I doubleclick on the message and open it
up.
Is it just me?
