thanks a lot for your help.
Messages dont vanish from a folder till you sync it, either by switching
to another folder or running expunge (watch that though, it will
permanently delete all mail in any subordinate folders).
i didn't know that expunging will sync also a vfolder. i should have
tried it first... anyway thanks. it works now as expected.
This is so that rules like 'unread mail' are practical (otherwise you
could click on a message, and it would vanish before you had time to
read it).
