Ditto. I posted this a while agao but received no response. so I thought
maybe something was weird on my machine. I ended up saving the Contacts
list as VCard (highlight all by "Select All", right click and choose
"Save as VCard). Make sure that the saved file has all the Contacts in
it saved as VCard. I then blew away my Contacts file addressbook.db and
re-imported my Contacts from the saved VCard file.
Dunno why I had to do that.

I'm using 0.12.99, as a prebuilt binary via Red Carpet.
I can find the same thing as a Red-Hat Source RPM (which I can rebuild),
and I can also find the same thing in the
ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/unstable/sources/evolution directory.
I am unable to find 0.13 (or 0.13.99 - both are listed in the Bugzilla
details)..
The source RPM uses the following Configure:
"./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --mandir=/usr/share/man

What switch do I need to buil in the LDAP stuff?

well i poked around in gnomecc a bit, and changing the default font

Maybe it has something to with the fact that the text of "To:" needs to
be in bold. That's how it is in Evolution on my work machine where
everything seems OK.
I am using Helvetica 14 for variable and Courier 12 for fixed width.

However, I still have that problem in other places of Evolution. One
example is when I hit the "To:" button in a Composer window. The top
button (which should also read "To:") in the window that pops up is
messed up. I am attaching a screenshot...
MMM, nice :)
What that meant when things like that happened to me was I
was using the
wrong font. Instead of ISO8859-1 it turned out I was using ISO8859-15.
Changing back to ISO8859-1 in the gnomecc capplet fixed some of them.
The original posters problem with the [][] in the folder button I put
down to a bug in the shell code that means it doesn't know
what name to
put there, so puts random garbage there instead, and random garbage is
usually not printable :) We know about that problem though.
It's related
to the missing icons and [None] in the title bar I think.

About LDAP support, i'd like to know if Evo is (or is planned to be)
able to perform LDAP requests other than basic search (like write
operations)? In other words, is Evo able to completely work with a LDAP
server or is it limited (*for writing*) to its own contacts files ?
Does it just wrap OpenLDAP utilities like ldapsearch (ldapadd?) or Evo
guys write their own ldap code (using OpenLDAP libs i guess)?
Anyway, Evo becomes more and more essential for me.. Keep up the very
goood work guys..

I was trying to move a bunch of messages from one folder to another. I
found that dragging them to another folder caused only one message to
move at a time.
So then I selected them all again and used the move button in the

Weird eh?
This was about 4 different message threads which I had viewed in

threading issue.

Moreover, I find the 0.12 version even much slower then the 0.11

I believe that's a known bug. For now, you need to hold down the Shift

you used Ctrl) while dragging the messages, and they will all get moved.
hope it works for you too!

In a similar vein will Evolution allow a Linux workstation to

Yes. I have had pretty good results with the Calendar, To-do, and
Addressbook conduits, synchronizing with a Handspring Visor Deluxe via a
serial port.
The only problem I've had is that the Gnome Pilot backup conduit doesn't
work since I installed Evolution. Every time I try to activate it via
the Gnome Control Center, gpilotd-control-applet crashes.

Hrm, I did a Ctrl+A to select all messages. If I keep Ctrl pressed down
and click a message, the message I clicked just gets unhighlighted. If
instead I hold down shift and then drag, nothing gets moved....weird.
BTW, this is with the August 21st builds if that matters.

When I'm in the calendar and I click "New Appointment" from the context

I'm using the 08-21 build, too.
I just tried it once and it worked--kind of funky with Ctrl-A since if
you then hold down shift and click, it really un-does the Ctrl-A and
re-selects everything between the previously selected message and the
one you clicked on... but I did it, and it worked.
I then tried moving all messages in the target folder back to the folder
where they came from, and as you say, nothing happens. But I can't get
it to even move a single message. I can still drag messages INTO the
target folder, but can't drag anything out. Plus, creating and deleting
folders is still so buggy in this snapshot (I think that's fixed but not
yet released as a snap) that I'm having trouble trying to create new
folders to help figure out how to reproduce this error. I give up.
In any case I guess the fact is that drag-n-drop is still buggy and
rather than trying to find workarounds we'll just have to wait until
they fix it.
FWIW, I still get all sorts of debugging output in the terminal window,
indicating the "drag_motion" and acknowledging that it knows where I'm
dragging stuff to, but no indication as to where it is failing to work.

I believe that's a known bug. For now, you need to hold down

key (if you used Shift to select multiple messages) or the
Ctrl key (if
you used Ctrl) while dragging the messages, and they will all
get moved.
hope it works for you too!

Subject: [Evolution] Edit as New in weird place
Does anyone know why "Edit as New Message" is the under File menu
instead of Actions? This seem quite odd to me since all the actions
should be in one place. It took me quite a while to find it under the
File menu.

Subject: [Evolution] reply to list strips footers?
I've hacked my local copy of Evolution to replace the "Reply To All" on
the toolbar with "Reply To List". In the course of using it, I've
noticed that it seems to strip of footers and salutations. Is this a
feature, or a bug?
Greg
P.S. I'd read the manual, but for some reason it's looking for it under
/usr, and not /opt/gnome_cvs. Not sure if that's the only problem with
the docs or not.

Well, now evolution starts faster, but I cannot write anithing, yet...
When I try first it says "Impossible to create composition window" -in
italian- then "unable to retrieve message from editor".
Any other ideas? Please...it's so frustrating to see it so nice and
useless!
Thanks,
Guido

I think that depends on where you open a new appointment!
If it is opened in the month-view or week-view that would be the natural
way,
if you open it in the day-view and you are over the "hour-section" (not
on top of the table) that behaviour is a bug...
But I will concern to you that it should be more flexible...
This was on the month view. But if a month view always creates all day
appointments (which I think is bad), then I shouldn't see that second
option to create an all day appointment. Kind of redundant.

Using Evolution 0.12, I forwarded a message. It had the "From:", "To:"

before?
