I get the same here, as i have all my root mail redirected to my own
local mail spool (pine works fine on the local spool)..

ls -al /usr/sbin/camel-lock-helper
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root    7476  /usr/sbin/camel-lock-helper

and also

ls -ld /var/spool/mail drwxrwxr-x    2 root  mail 4096  /var/spool/mail

Any suggestions (Iam using evo-0.99.1)
