Re: [Evolution] Re: RH7 Snapshot problems (bad ones)

Hmmm, thats a bit nasty.

I suspect it was the html indexing (which i've now turned off), or could
also be related to other things, something similar happened with someone
who had a broken iconv, and upgrading libc fixed that problem (but if
you're not getting the occasional duplicated message body its probably
not that). Or well, who knows.

Contacts, not sure.

For maildir, you can just drop the mail folder back under
evolution/local/Whatever/mbox and make sure the local-metadata.xml file
contains the type="maildir", rather than the default "mbox'.

Very sorry it so badly broke :(

Hi, the snapshot is cvs.2001.0.26.18.23

My previous setup was evolution useing maildir formats for folders.

I installed the snapshot and started evolution, it gave me the message
about neding to instal other files, then I got the splash screen.

It sat there for a long time, 3 or 4 mins before it started to consume
resources, all of them. I was unable to move the mouse, the harddrive
was churning away, all of my memory and all my swap space was used up (I
have never seen this on my PC before) and the machine was so busy that X
stoped responding, I would move the mouse and 5-10 seconds later the
pointer would jump an inch accross the screen.

After about 5 mins I was able to get to a virtual terminal (ctrl-alt-f1)
and try to log in, but my logins kept timeing out. I tried to shutdown
but after a while just powered down.

I tried again, and again it happened.

I deleted my old evolution folder and now evolution will run, but it's
very unstable.

Anyway, how can I do the following?

1) Import my old contacts (I backed up before deleteing)? I tried
copying the contents of the old contact foldr, but evolution would lock
up on the splash screen...
2) Import from maildir folders?

thanks
