hi there,
i noticed a new snapshot of evolution, and like an idiot just
ran ahead and installed the various packages that red-carpet
said i needed, without making sure it would work first.
when i first ran it, it informed me that some files needed to
be installed, i allowed it, the files were sucessfully installed
( or so it reported ), the splash came up, then went away, without
any information.
now, when i try and run evolution, without seeing the splash screen
i get a popup error box that says:
Cannot initialize the Evolution shell.
obviously, simply reporting this as a bug will do nothing but anger
the bug maintainers.
but i cannot figure out how to make evolution give me any actually
useful debugging information. it doesn't seem to accept the '-v'
parameter and nothing is ever printed to stderr/out.
what to do? i must admit, i've become kind of dependant on evolution
already... despite being strictly instructed not to do so in the
warning popup window... ;-)
cheers,
