[Evolution] Speed - When?

Hi all.  

Is Evolution Slow?  I find it very slow to delete mail, mark as read and
get mail.  It starts of good, but when my main mbox gets large (I just
delete it, it was 28meg) it gets slow and is prone to breaking.  I tried
to delete about 1300 mails and it crawled along, it finaily finished but
fro mthen on I kept getting syncronisation errors on the folder and
finanly removed the actual folder mbox file.

But it sems to take a very long time (as in minutes rathr than seconds)
to do these basic tasks,  mins to import 200 mails is rathr unfriiendly.
