Even with GTK_CONFIG set, pieces of the configure script 
want gtk-config.  I had GTK_CONFIG set to /usr/X11R6/bin/gtk12-config
on my FreeBSD 4.3 box.

I got around it with a symlink, but this is a bug, IMHO.
