Doing a killev AND ESPECIALLY oaf-slay will fix that reply to a message
problem you are having.

Using the shortcut view you can place any folders you choose to there
simply by dragging the link from the folder view to the shortcut view.

If you are using sawfish then you can right-click on the window title
bar and then select the history option and click on the 'remember window
dimensions' option.

That should pretty much solve all of your problems.
