I've had that problem since day one. What I think it was an accidental
deletion of personal mail thing they may have done. Anyway, what I did to
bypass that was create a symbolic link to the /var/spool/mail/??? file in the
evolution folder and tell evolution to use the symbolic link for mail
grabbing instead.
