It matters as EFont uses FontSets.

I've been fighting similar problem with  s. It turned out, that with some fonts, EFont returned length of string only to first   and no more. It looks like it happens also with other's wider-than-byte characters. I'm not why this is happening, maybe bad byte order? Or gtk/X error? Unfortunately I am busy with cut&paste, could you someone else look at it?
