So, what is 'groupware'?

It turns out that the term "groupware" isn't very well-defined. THE GNU GLUE

OK, I probably should have asked 'what does groupware consist of for the
purposes of OGS'.

project is supposed to build tightly integrated "collaboration groupware",
rather than traditional "office"-style groupware.

I've written up a longer response at the GNU GLUE Wiki web site,

   http://glue.swiki.net/

I should probably refer to GNU GLUE as "collaboration support software", in
order to make it clear that GLUE won't just copy today's idea of "office groupware",
i.e. a mail/news/todo/calendar/document sharing/address book combo. Other projects
are already in the process of addressing office-style groupware, and are doing a
good job with it. (Looking at phpGroupWare, Evolution, OpenOffice and Mozilla.)

I'm of course very flattered but I can't recall us actually doing anything
for it...

Please keep in mind that GNU GLUE is very much an exploratory (and experimental)
project. It's supposed to generalize on the document models of Outlook/Exchange and
Lotus Notes; this will include "traditional" office-style groupware as a special case.

Again, if you want to know more about the scope of the GNU GLUE project, please read
my response to this thread at http://glue.swiki.net/.

BTW, what would be the security and session model when using XML-RPC?

good question 8-)
