I got this when I had an old bonobo installed. Upgradeing bonobo solved the problem.
, prints to stderr/stdout the following message: evolution-shell-WARNING **: Cannot access Bonobo/ConfigDatabase on wombat: (IDL:OAF/GeneralError:1.0)
