Mike,
There are very few things which can lock up an X server. In a perfect
world, there wouldn't be anything which could accomplish it. Evolution
is NOT something which can lock up an X server.
So what's going on? The most likely explanation is a bad font. You
probably have a corrupt font file or a bad font server on your machine.
When an email comes in which requests a font which maps to the corrupted
font (or font server), you get a lock up.
So. How do you fix it? The first thing to check is to make sure you
are NOT using the xfstt font server with the XFree 4 X server. This
combination does not work. If you figure out which email locks up your
X server, you can view the source for that email and see which font it's
requesting. Or, you can use gfontsel to try all fonts on your system
and locate the bad one.

Has anyone ever seen Evolution freeze a Linux machine entirely? I never

Using Evolution 1.0, all the latest Red Carpet updates from Ximian, RH
7.2.
It's very odd, the whole thing freezes - mouse pointer won't move,
external telnet sessions are frozen, ctrl-alt-delete and
ctrl-alt-backspace both don't work.
What gives? It's like a BSOD without the BSOD! ;)
