waaaaa! it seems like kde stores the position and size of a window in combination with his internal name or something like that. i don't know exactly. so my "Store Settings" - hint won't work for long... First time you click "Send / Receive" the statuswindow pops up. seems like it has the same name as the composer- window. result is, that the settings stored just one seconds before got overwritten with the position and size of the statuswindow... next time you click "New Mail" it will open as tiny as the statuswindow and will only resize to fit the minimum needs for some gui elements needed in this window... wuaaaa. *g* Manuel On Mon, 2001-12-03 at 10:45, Manuel Streuhofer wrote:
hehe... found it. it's really easy.... just for info if anyone beside me uses evo under kde and wants to save window-positions... when the window is open and has the position and size you want... just right-click on the window-top-bar and select "Store Settings" from this moment on the window always opens as left bevore. :) Manuel On Mon, 2001-12-03 at 10:09, Manuel Streuhofer wrote:morning :) no i don't have the window-placement set on "smart". it was set to random. to the size-"problem"> the main window isn't the problem. it's just as you told. it remembers the size and position and starts maximized. hmmm... i think i should post my question at the kde- mailinglist.... thanks.. :) On Mon, 2001-12-03 at 06:13, Lonnie Borntreger wrote:On Sun, 2001-12-02 at 10:26, Manuel Streuhofer wrote:i'm using evo under kde. because of that i can't say the windowmanager should save the windowposition and size for the next use.I use Evolution under KDE also, and it does save the window size (see below for position comments). Evolution always opens with the main window, and all its panes sized exactly as they were when I exited the last session.the "problem" is, that whenever i click for new mail the composerwindow opens but is very small. i must maximize it to work with it. thats not really a problem but its not funny. This, kind of, is a preference thing. The composer window is the same size when in the gnome desktop. I personally like it bigger (since I use a larger font), and adjust it, but maybe it's fine for most people, it just doesn't remember your adjustments. It's not a KDE issue, as the mail viewing window opens at the same size as the composer window initially, then I resize it, and all other mail viewing windows open using my new size - until I exit Evolution and start a new session (it just doesn't save that parameter across sessions). I would like it if it would remember the composer and viewer window sizes across sessions, but it's no biggie for me.also the window for the status while waiting for connecting, and receiving new mail always opens in the top left corner. it would be more "beautifully" if it opens centered to the screen. :)Do you have KDE set to use "Smart Placement" of windows? If so, it tries to find open desktop space (starting at the upper left window) to place new windows. Turning that option off may, or may not, make a difference.perhaps evo can open the window with a size that fulfills the standard requirements of a normal user... and tries to center the window. perhaps just optional...See my second paragraph........ -- TTFN, Lonnie Borntreger ------ ------ ------ Our mission is to authoritatively promote timely methods of empowerment so that we may endeavor to collaboratively supply inexpensive opportunities to exceed customer expectations _______________________________________________ evolution maillist - evolution ximian com http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution-- best regards, Manuel Streuhofer ----_______________________________________________ evolution maillist - evolution ximian com http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/evolution-- best regards, Manuel Streuhofer ----
