[Evolution] alarms working for Mandrake Cooker users?

Sorry to touch on a topic that I know has been covered before, but the
list archives at Ximian are not searchable :(

I'm using Evolution 0.12 from Mandrake Cooker and I can't seem to get
alarms to actually work. I've tried it with pop-ups, audio alarms, and
none seem to work.

Anyone else have better luck? I'd like to ditch gnomecal :)
