OK. Tried it again on a stock install of Slackware 8.0. I got the exact same message, so I don't think
autoconf has anything to do with it, and I doubt gcc has anything to do with it either since I didn't even
get it to go through autogen.sh. Ximian Gnome isn't required to run evolution is it? I've got the latest
versions (not from cvs) of bonobo, bonobo-conf, gtkhtml, and gal.

why are you using autoconf 2.50? I suspect this to be the cause of your
problems...either that or gcc 3.x suckage.

Hi. I can't seem to get the evolution checked out from cvs to build. This is on a Slackware 8.0 box with
the additional libraries I needed to compile the evolution beta 2. I also have gcc-3.0.1, and
autoconf-2.50. Not sure if I anything else that would make things go wrong. So here's what happens. I
run ./autogen.sh --prefix=/opt/gnome, get a bunch of debugging stuff, a few warnings (available on
request) followed by the following nastiness:

You should update your `aclocal.m4' by running aclocal.
