Expunging messages from Folder expunges messages from Trash (was [Evolution] Evolution Bug Day, Take 2)

I still find it very counter-intuitive and frustrating. One reason I
expunge messages is to speed up loading and viewing messages in a folder
that gets a lot of traffic (i.e. the evo list), and that I am viewing
often (i.e. the evo list).

I see the Trash as a place to manually empty every so often (or choose
for it to be emptied automatically on exit, or whatever); a place to go
find those messages you deleted but realized later that you still needed
some info from.

I don't mind if my Trash is humongously cumbersome. That's my problem.
It doesn't bother me because I rarely want to look at it. I will never
complain that Evo is slow opening my Trash box (well, within reason...).

I feel rather strongly about this, but it would be a lot less present on
my mind if I wasn't constantly doing Alt-V-D, Alt-V-D as a workaround
for the bug that fails to notify me when new messages get filtered into
a folder. I frequently expunge the folders, rather than having tons of
deleted messages always getting shown and re-hidden when I do this.

Since I'm sure some of you out there also feel strongly about keeping
this the way it currently works, I would actually be willing to beg,
plead and/or constantly nag someone to add this as a user option
checkbox: "Expunge messages from Trash when expunged from original
folder?"

Thanks for listening

If you turn on Hide-Deleted-Messages, I think you'll find Trash much
more useful.

I am using the 0820 snap here.

One small problem: I deleted your original message from this thread (the
one with the appointment attached) and expunged it already. Could you
send it again off-list (via email)? I will then try your suggestion.

Totally off-topic, I find it really annoying that expunging a folder
also expunges the deleted messages from the trash folder (what is the
point of the trash folder, then!?).

That certainly works a lot better (I actually have a Calendar entry)...
but the time zone stuff still seems a little weird. In my daily
calendar view it correctly shows 6AM-6PM as the allocated time (I am on
Los Angeles... ahem... I mean, Northern California time).

But if I open the event, the Appointment Window that pops up is a little
weird, time-wise. It shows the appt. starting at 6:00 AM (no time zone
but when I click the tz-selection button it shows America/Los_Angeles),
but ending at 9:00 PM with "America/New_York" shown between the time and
the tz-selection button.

Can you provide the evolution version you are using and see if you can
delete that appointment and reproduce the problem as we can't reproduce
it on this end.
