yeah i'm using xfree 4.1.0 with the nvidia drivers. i just did a clean
build of evolution, gal, and gtkhtml from cvs sources. it could have
been an effect of installing the ximian .debs on a sid system. we'll
see how it goes.

Hello Mr Kondik.
Do you have XFree86 version 4.x installed? We think there is some
strange interaction between them. Check the ps output please.

i've been using evo as my primary mail client lately (from cvs) and i'm
noticing that i have to restart the program every couple of hours or it
consumes all availiable memory and my machine starts swapping :> i
can't really nail it down as to why but is this a common issue?
