[Evolution] Evolution and 2.4 kernels

I'm running evolution-0.5.1 and last night I compiled and booted a
2.4.test9-pre7 kernel.  After the reboot I noticed that Evolution now
takes about 3 times as long to start.  I can watch the cpu meter display
a burst of activity, stop, display a burst of activity, stop, another
burst and finally evolution comes up on the screen.  This may actually
be a gnome problem but it certainly is waiting for something that wasn't
happening in the 2.2.16 kernel.

Anyone else experience this or have any ideas?
