[HC Evolution] Re: Evolution and vfolders

Hi guys,

There is some documentation regarding vFolders on GNOME CVS in
evolution/devel-docs/query.

Hi, Mikko!

Sorry I haven't mailed back for ages :(

Nat, I have cc'd you because you will know the right place to point
Mikko.

Incidentally, the new Gnome stuff you wrote out sounds like they're
going towards things that I've worked with, namely saved queries and
collections.

I've worked with an application called Metaphase, which is basically
just a big search engine. It allows you to make arbitrary collections
of items, and also to save queries -- so that when you click on a
saved query, it will run that query and display the contents.

So it's possible to collect any group of objects (in a collection)
or determine a rule by which all current objects matching some criteria
are looked for...

I'm wondering if I should get in touch with someone about discussing
these, since I have a fair bit of experience with using those and
maybe that would help someone's application developement...

I would imagine the best place to start is
      http://www.helixcode.com/apps/evolution.php3
which has a link to the evolution mailing list.

The code is in GNOME CVS, which is available by anoncvs (several
round robin machines, so if you don't get through, try again until
you hit a machine that's talking: I mention this because I _keep_
seeing "Where's CVS gone?" on IRC atm!) at, um... anoncvs.gnome.org
and the module is evolution. There's a browser thingy for it at
http://cvs.gnome.org somewhere: bonsai is the 'tree control'
(groan) and lxr is the browser.

I hope that helps: I'll mail properly soon. I promise :)

Telsa
