Okay, just joined the mailing list; brand new to Debian, too ...
I just installed Debian on a box at home. The first thing I did was
upgrade to Woody, install Helix GNOME, and install Evolution. I was so
excited when it [Evolution] started up and I could add a contact. But
then the trouble started. First I tried to delete the default hello
message from helix ... that yielded the following error messages:
(1) "Error while 'Displaying message UID "1"': Failed to get lock
using fcntl(2): No locks available"
(2) "Ooops! The view for 'evolution:/local/Inbox' have died
unexpectedly. :-( This probably means that the mail component has
crashed." **
** I also get this message when I try to check my mail on a pop server **
So, I thought "Aghh, I'll come back to it," and composed a message
(which worked beautifully [no walking cursor, no crash, etc.]. When I
clicked on send, I got:
(3) "Error while 'Sending "Evolution ..."': Failed to get lock using
fcntl(2): No locks available" --allright, I'm beginning to see a
pattern. [btw, "Evolution..." was the subject of the mail.]
Since I couldn't send the message, I saved it using the `File --> Save
As ...' method. That worked. Then I closed the composer window, at
which point it asked me if I wanted to save the message, so I said yes.
It then gave me:
(4) "Error while 'Saving changes to message': Failed to get lock
using fcntl(2): No locks available"
I randomly get this error, too [I'm not sure what action I take to
provoke it]
(5) "Error while `Expunging "/mbox"': Failed to get lock using
fcntl(2): No locks available"
So, there's probably a very simple fix to these problems [how to get rid
of fcntl(2) error] ... I just don't know what it is. Has anyone else
had this problem? Know how to fix it?
