Re: [evolution] SSL, vcard incorporation, mail arrival?

      1. When e-mail arrives (with or without a vcard), is there a
natural way for the sender information to be incorporated into
the contacts database? If not, is this planned to be something
\emph{automatic} or will it be a drag-and-drop implementation.

The plan is:

When you get a vcard, it will embed a control from the Addressbook
component to view and and optionally add it. You'll also presumably be
able to drag it to a contact folder.

There will be some as-yet-not-entirely-determined way of creating an
entry for the sender of a message, probably involving some sort of
click on the "From" line of the headers, possibly involving having a
little icon there.

There will hopefully be a way of setting up rules (a la filters and
vfolders) to automatically add certain people to your addressbook,
like "Automatically record addresses of people who send to
evolution helixcode com in the `Fellow Evolution Users' contact
folder", etc.

      2. Are there plans for native support of ssl through OpenSSL
      (say)?

"Maybe". One big issue is that Evolution is GPLed and OpenSSL has an
old-school BSD-style license, meaning you can't use them together.
(Yay "freedom".) The GnuPG people are apparently working on a "GnuTLS"
library. ("TLS" being the real name of what everyone calls "SSL".)
