[Evolution] Just plain wierdness

I have finally got Evolution running, thanks to the RPM's.  Anyway, it
seems that I have problems that noone else is having.  I have
successfully set up my mail settings to connect to my IMAP server. 
After I did that, I had to exit evolution and start it back up to be
able to see my mail folders (IMAP server) in the folders listing.  Then
when I click on any folder, including my inbox, I still do not get a
listing of any messages in the folder, no matter what I try, I cannot
see messages.  The getmail button doesn't seem to be effective
either...  If I hit the compose button, all the off the buttons disapear
and the main window turns grey.  From this point, I have to restart
evolution to get anything to come back.  The calender and contacts seem
to work resonably well though.  any ideas as to what is going on?
