Hi everyone. After a prolonged silence and a period of much work, the evolution-kolab team gladly announces what you could call a first release candidate of the Kolab plugin for Evolution. Source code, user manual and some supplemental files can be found on the project's website, located at SourceForge: http://evolution-kolab.sourceforge.net/ The need to settle on a stable development environment led to the following requirements for evolution-kolab (see the website for more details): * Evolution 2.30.3 * Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" (building for Debian 6.0 Squeeze may work but is not yet tested) * Kolab server 2.2.4 (other versions of the Kolab server should work but have not yet been tested) * (for more details check out the project website) We are aware of the fact that these requirements somewhat limit the usefulness of the project in its present state. We'll see what we can do about that. However, testing has shown that the interoperability with other Kolab clients is quite good and the whole thing is working so far. There are some issues to be resolved before evolution-kolab will be ready for use in productive/critical environments (which is a use case we do not presently encourage due to the project's early status), but everyone interested is welcome to try and test the plugin. Feedback is welcome, either in form of postings to the project's SF mailing list, or by adding issues to the project's SF bugtracker. There are several resources worthwhile to consider when trying the evolution- kolab plugin. The user manual available from the website can serve to get everything up and running, and there is a Wiki page on which we documented the most common issues a user of evolution-kolab may run into (follow the "Known Bugs" link on the project website). Many (if not all) of the Evolution issues listed there may be specific to v2.30.3 and might already be resolved in recent versions of Evolution. Also, check out the project's "Files" section, it has some more material (some of it is available in German only - we found automated translation services to be of some value here). A whole lot of data conversion issues are outlined on another project Wiki page. Follow the "PIM data conversion issues" link on the project website. Pre-packaged builds of evolution-kolab are available for Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid" for i386 and amd64 architectures. We've set up a rudimentary package repository to ease the installation process. The evolution-kolab team is looking forward to receiving your feedback on the project!
