[Evolution-hackers] Accessing calendar from the command line

Hi Folks,

I wondering if someone can push me in the right direction - I'm hoping
to read items in the (Birthday) calendar from the command line.

Any ideas of the easiest way to do this? Python/Linux Shell preferred,
but can work with most languages if needed.
