It doesn't make any sense to stick it there anyway, in my opinion.

You will not see that "welcome" mail when updating. You will see it as a
new user. A new user doesn't want to know what changed within the last 6
month, since he doesn't know where it started off -- but about all the
major features and goodies.


The last 6 months changes is like "getting 10% more chocolate". You
don't know if it tastes good, and despite getting "more" you still don't
know if you actually would get even more chocolate for the buck in the
store next door. ;-)
