Me!  Tasks (to me) are the most important part of the software.  But what 
your really describing sounds more like "projects".  Have you played with 
OpenGroupware - they have a very nice project management system.  And when 
the oGo plugin arrives it will at least allow easy interraction with the 
task level portion of the information.
