I think that in ubuntu 12.04 you have an old poppler library (I believe it is 0.18.4) and then there are some drawing issues when selecting text. Using a newer poppler version should fix the problem.

Same here, looks fine to me.  Could you better describe "missing
sections" so that I can tell if I see them or not?
