Thanks for quick response. Here is what I get when running evince from CL:
howard howard-laptop:~$ evince /home/howard/Desktop/DPCA Contacts MAR09.pdf
(evince:9178): atk-bridge-WARNING **: AT_SPI_REGISTRY was not started at session startup.
(evince:9178): atk-bridge-WARNING **: IOR not set.
(evince:9178): atk-bridge-WARNING **: Could not locate registry
Evince 2.24.1 is using poppler 0.8.7 (cairo). I don't know what version of poppler Xpdf uses. The Xpdf version I have is 3.02.

Do you see any errors on the command line if you run "evince file.pdf"?
Which Evince and Poppler version are you using? Which poppler version is
used by KPdf?
