$ evince --version
GNOME evince 2.22.2
Occasionally Debian/Ubuntu's conservatism gets in the way. :-)
I can't find a Ubuntu Hardy backport of 2.24.1, but I see it at
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/e/evince/ -- presumably part
of Intrepid. I'll have to do a bit of research to figure out if it will
break anything to install that on Hardy (and then how to do it
properly).
Do you happen to know if it will likely work when I get done? I can
imagine that it might /launch/ an external program but perhaps not
/open/ an external file that then by virtue of its MIME type opens it in
a certain program.
Thanks,
Bill
