I'd just like to add that Helix doesn't support many formats out of the
box. Basically it's a stripped version of Real Player 10. If you want to
play Real movies, it can be "hacked" by giving Helix access to the Real
codecs or simply by installing Real Player.
I use Totem. It displays the videos inside the browser and uses my
GNOME themes. On the downside, some streaming movies stop playing a
few seconds in.
You can experiment with Totem with the Gstreamer backend and with the
Xine backend. In some cases one will work better, in other cases the
other.
