It is a fairly common behaviour for the tab key to cycle between items
in a drop down list.
When I want to search for something I enter text in the urlbar, I see
the "search the web" option. If I press TAB to go the "search" I'm
toggling to the next widget instead of cycling to the "search option".
The solution to this is to use the DOWN-ARROW key. I believe this is bad
because it: requires moving my hand from the home keys, and takes more
time to perform.
Similar behaviour can be observed when entering a URL in the urlbar.
e.g. I have previously visited the osnews and osopinion site. I enter
the text "os" in the urlbar and see in the drop down: osnews.com,
osopinion.com and the "search the web" option. Again I would like to
"tab" between these options.
A question needing consideration is how to move focus to the web-page is
the behaviour is changed.
1) if no drop-down is visible the behaviour doesn't have to change.
2) if the drop-down is visible then I simply hit ESCAPE and the
drop-down disappears.
I find the current behaviour really irritating. Am I alone in this?
Thanking you in advance,
Lex.
