that was a good pointer,  the problem seems to be that when the image is 
relatively big, the update on the disk(or rescan by gvfs) happens up to 
one second later. thus the set_current_image call happens far too early...
I do not really know how to fix that, freezing the ui for an arbitrary 
one second does not seem to be a very good idea :-)
