I would like if we could figure out how a redesign would look before
switching backend engines.
I like the wordpress more than the static site generator we had before
(not only for the handy edit button, but also because the old system
broke down a lot), but if we want to build something that would benefit
from a static site generator, I think we should choose the right tool
for the job.

I agree with Andreas, we had that solution before and it didn't really pan out.  It was huge relief to actually switch into wordpress at the time.

I don't think it's logically correct to write off all static site generators just because the one we used 6+ years ago had issues. (Which isn't to say that I disagree with Andreas - the current Wordpress site *is* nicer than what we had before.)
