It isn't at the moment, but I don't think we need to require people to take
photos, especially as some may not be comfortable with the obligation, or to
offer it as a reason for a sponsorship request.

I think that it is best practice for hackfest organisers to
ask the hackfest attendees to blog and upload photos at the start of each
hackfest.
Right so in line with the suggestion earlier in the thread about
adding more info about this to the wiki we could add info about this
to Hackfest wiki pages [1]  and sort of make it a part of the Hackfest
wiki page template. This is something I personally are much interested
in doing.

Maybe a post GUADEC blog post and on social media might also be appropriate.
Good suggestions.
