Great thanks for doing this, have added some comments below.

The Value of the GNOME Project.

GNOME is a freely available operating system for desktops, laptops and
netbooks, highly influential in the Linux community due to the project
community’s unique commitment to the user experience.

Used by millions of people around the world, it is the most popular
environment for GNU/Linux and UNIX-type operating systems. GNOME’s
software has been utilized in successful, large-scale enterprise and
public deployments.
I think it should be desktop most popular "desktop environment".

Gnome’s close alignment with human-computer interaction drives
technical requirements in areas such as interface design, toolkits,
graphics and display rendering. These innovations have been picked-up
by other Linux operating system projects such as Ubuntu and Red Hat
Enterprise Linux (Fedora), Chrome, MeeGo, and Tizen distributions
(including Tizen IVI).
Maybe "Linux *based* operating"?

Who It’s For

Gnome is used directly by consumers, and its open source code is
utilized by operating system vendors, system integrators, original
device and equipment manufactures and others who are building custom
Linux desktop and distributions. Application developers also use GNOME
for development and test activities.
"Gnome is used by consumers"? (I'm not sure "directly" is
necessary).

Project Specifics

Gnome is written primarily in the C language,
I think its good to mention GKT+ and also mention that
its possible to write apps in JavaScript.

distributed under the
LGPL v2.1 license, with over five thousand contributors including
writers, designers, translators and programmers.
Many parts of GNOME are distributed under GPL2 only (especially apps)

About Intel Involvement

Intel has contributed engineering talent as well as user experience
research to GNOME in recognition of its

It is compatible through open source with Intel® Atom™ processors and
Intel® Core™ processors.
