A blog post is probably ok. I've been leaning on desrt to do one. I wouldn't
do any large, official announcement - that would be putting too much
importance on this, imo.


Yes, that is fine.  I can also put in some stuff through google+ as
well and various other places if needed.  Putting it out there will at
least set the stage for the discussion.  I would like to see us out
there saying that we do want to support other kernels (within limits).
