Re: Annual Report next steps

There are a couple minor fixup changes pending as pull requests.
I really think attributing articles to authors is important:

Right so if I understand things correctly the Annual Report are done
and ready to be published.

On the last Engagement team meeting [1] before GUADEC we agreed to
publish the Report the 5th of August, this Tuesday. I have scheduled a
news item for that date, this means that if we want do any last minute
changes (if necessary) it have to be done before the 5th. We also want
to create a entry on the foundation's report page [2]. If there is not
to I will upload the master copy of the report on the 5th.

I think its really great that we have been able to produce such a
great report our limited resources. I want to thank everyone involved
especially Allan and Andreas who have done a tremendous work on the
design. With the report out of the door we are now able to focus on
ohter things which feels great.

In the release article I find this sentence troubling:
"Wayland is the next generation technology for display and input
on
Linux."

Its very strong wording that I don't think its an accurate,
description
of the situation, sounds more like a PR statement from a company
department, I do not think we need to play that role.

That sounds correct to me. It is the next generation tech for
display and
input on Linux after all.
What else would be?
Its not really a matter if its *right* or wrong, but if its an
accurate description of the situation.

Seems fairly accurate, there is no other display server that has
gained any traction other than those related to Android and IOS.

I think this wording implies that there is none alternative in this
area which there are [1]. We are usually quick to notice when the
press treat us unfairly so I don't think we should play (or even
risk
to) the same game.

Humm.. Mir is only associated with canonical products. The people
working on Wayland are more or less associated with X and is supported
by everyone else.
Mir and Android still in some sense are/target *Linux*.

What alternative would you propose ?
My suggestion are and have always been: "Wayland is a next generation
technology for display and input on Linux".
