Re: [Ekiga-list] Question about placing a call from Ekiga witout having to add the registrar's information

Hello,

I am sorry, but currently, there is no workaround for that.

Several users on the mailing list expressed their concerns about the automatic completion, and I think we (developers and users) need to agree on an "algorithm" (solution) which fits all needs. I will think of it later, once we fix the bugs in the developement code of ekiga.

Regards,
Eugen

Hello Eugen,

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out with this problem.

Yes, you understand very well what I would like to be able to do. I see the combo box with the
digitalvoice.ca suffix, but would like to simply press enter or click on the green telephone icon to place a
call.

The problem with the combo box is that if you erase the first number dialed by error, you lose the registrar
suffix and have to reenter the whole thing one more time.

Is there any way around that or do I have to simply try to make the best of it while using the Ekiga
Softphone 4.0.2 version?

Thanks and regards,

Christine

Hi,

I have recently installed Ekiga and would love to continue using it
via an SIP registrar from my country, Canada.

Everything seems to be working fine except for the fact that every
time I want to place a call to another number, I need to add the
registrar’s name at the end of my number. For example, to place a
call to 439-356-6868 (invented number), I would need to enter
4393566868 digitalvoice ca which Ekiga would next automatically
transforms into sip:4393566868 digitalvoice ca .

However, if I place a call using a number in my contacts or if I
double-click on a call already listed in the call history, everything
works fine and I do not need to add the @digitalvoice.ca extension.

Is there any way around that problem? What can I do to place a call
to someone who is not already in my contacts without having to add the
registrar’s information at the end of the number (e.g.
<mailto:4393566868 digitalvoice ca> 4393566868 digitalvoice ca ) ?

Hi,

When you type a number, the combobox opens and lets you choose the number with the suffix @digitalvoice.ca,
is that right?

So, after typing the number, you just want to type ENTER instead of down arrow and enter, is that right?

(There is a bug related to this:
