What seems to be happening on the other end is:

"The quick fox jumped over the brown log."

Comes through on the other end as;

"The qu f jump ov th br log." 

Like chunks of data are hitting the bit bucket somewhere. Maybe a buffer or just a really bad Internet connection.

Hi Ted,

For the sound issue, the first thing I'd suggest is simply making a call to the
Ekiga.net echo test service, and see what the sound quality is like there (e.g.
does it echo or cut in/out etc.).

For the audio codecs, I find it easiest to enable PCMU, PCMA,and Speex only for
starters.

More important is the order of codecs.  By default, it is speex16, iLBC-H323only, PCMU, PCMA, hence it should be ok.
