Ok, I have finally done it.  Could you install opal from
https://launchpad.net/~eugen-dedu/+archive/eugen/+packages (replacing
your current opal) and tell if it works?  I'ts ubuntu original opal,
plus the patch fixing the internal/external ports issue.
