Bret,
What kernel are you running?
2.6.24-24-generic #1 SMP Tue Aug 18 17:04:53 UTC2009 i686
OS: Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS
What video-related modules are loaded? And which version are those?
Can you give me a simple command to display that information?
Sorry to sound so ignorant, but in looking in Synaptic, I could not find
any webcam-specific packages installed, apparently the only applicable
packages appeared to be Ekiga, and Skype.
I tried installing and running cheese, to see whether that would capture
videoclips, after reading the above message and searching for packages,
but cheese displays only a test pattern, and no input from the webcam.
