Hi Daniel I agree, Ekiga having 'jack-ability' would be great and as jack is able to turn off the newer versions of pulse-audio it would solve that problem as well. There was someone a while back who was trying to sort out the ekiga/alsa issue - I wonder if anything came of it? You mention a podcast for open source musicians - can I have a link to where I can sign up for it? Our current setup uses skype to hold the conversation using the alsa-jack bridge and an asoundrc pcm device. From there we record using Ardour and send to an icecast server using darkice. Being able to use a sip phone with native jack support would enable a much cleaner setup as well as conference calling ect.. I hope this can be a planned addition to ekiga or at the very least resolve the alsa pcm device issue. |
