Craig,
If you have Paypal, I would like to get your Paypal email address please. I believe that this feature is important enough that I would love to be one of the first to make a small donation towards making this a project a reality. I have blind carbon copied some of my trusted friends in the GNU/Linux community so they know about your virtual sound card idea for Opal. I have spent tonight studying the underlying structure of Ekiga, so I have a much better understanding of how Ekiga works than i did 24 hours ago. I look forward to communicating with you more. Hopefully, this is the start of a long friendship. Cheers!
Sincerely,
Rex Djere
"This problem would be solved by an idea I've been thinking about for some time.
I'd like to create a virtual sound card that would be available as an audio output option for Opal.
You would configure Audacity to record from this virtual sound card, and then setup the call. The audio from the call
would arrive on the virtual sound card and would be recordable just like any other audio stream.
This should be very doable.
Craig"
Craig, thank you for the rapid response. As a GNU/Linux oggcaster myself, this would be a godsend! I am a pretty good C++ programmer, but I am not yet at a proficiency level to tackle this kind if project in a rapid and timely fashion, thus I defer to those who have far more knowledge than I do. However, I would be more than willing to help in anyway possible. There is also a very large GNU/Linux podcasting community that may be willing to provide help also. Please let me know what I can do and I will try to enlist others in the community to help as well. Thanks!
Rex

Hello everyone!
My name is Rex Djere and I host a GNU/Linux oggcast. I have an idea that I wanted to present to all of you for consideration, creating an Audacity plugin that allows it to directly accept Ekiga telephony calls and record them. This is how I propose that this feature could be used:
* Imagine that Mr. Richard Stallman is a guest on my podcast.
* I, the host, record my microphone directly in Audacity.
* Mr. Stallman calls my pc from his pc using Ekiga.
* Audacity answers the call, and I use a button in Audacity's menu to start recording the call.
* An optional "record all streams" button could be added to Audacity to record everything (my mic, phone call etc.)
Now imagine this, Audacity being able to accept and record an unlimited number of Ekiga streams using the plugin. This would be wonderful for a podcast with multiple hosts and or guest. For the podcasting community, I believe that this would be a godsend. Please feel free to send me any comments or replies. Thank you.
