I think the absolute minimum would be video input, no idea if ptlib supports CoreAudio, so probably audio as well. I wouldnt worry too much about the codecs as theora and ffmpeg can be compiled for mac os x as well. Probably CoreVideo accelerated output would be nice to get decent video playback, but for a first run I suppose software scaling should work too.
