Cool, thanks for the info. I've been upgrading several Mandriva machines
for many years and while I don't disagree with you, I think Mandriva
upgrades from one version to the next are probably the smoothest of the
distros I've used, helped in part due to the excellent Errata and Notes
for each new release which often mention issues on upgrade etc.

I've had a lot more hassle upgrading my fedora and centos systems that's
for sure!

I generally now run Mandriva cooker on my daily machine but then I
follow the dev list closely and can generally tell if something is
likely to break, so it's been fairly stable for me for a long time but
not everyone is able to do that :)

The trouble with leaving it too long of course is that jumping straight
from 2006 -> 2008.0/1 is liable to have some issues!! But doing the jump
every six months is not overly practical for some folks too so each to
their own :)

Anyways, good luck when the upgrade does eventually happen. If there are
any issues just find me on (coling) on IRC and I'll do my best to help
you out.
